So this post is totally out of order but I had to share this outrageously delish lunch I had today at Roka in London. One of our dearest friends, Jeff, was in London on business and was kind enough to treat me to one of the best meals I’ve had in ages. If you’re in London, grab a seat at Roka’s sushi bar, loosen your belt and order the seasonal tasting menu. You’ll be glad you did. Pinky swear.
Chef choice sashimi and yellow fin tuna tartar with apple mustard dressing.
Seaweed and grilled bamboo shoot salad.
Very fancy kim chi.
Assorted vegetables tempura.
Beef, ginger and sesame dumplings.
Softshell crab maki with cucumber, kim chi and and chili mayonnaise.
Spiced chicken wings with sea salt and lime.
Asparagus with sweet soy and sesame.
Fried eggplant, sesame miso and katsuobushi.
Salmon filet teriyaki. (I was in a food coma at this point and was halfway through this yummy thing before realizing I hadn’t taken a photo.)
Mini desert platter. Honestly, I don’t know exactly what everything is (see food coma comment above) but it was this perfect blend of textures and flavors and we loved it.
A little pot of ice cream and moose and all sorts of crunchy/salty things. OVER. THE. TOP.
More on London tomorrow!
